The Kamenjak Peninsula or Cape Kamenjak is the southernmost region of Istria . The name is a synomim of the croatia word „kamen“ – which means stone, rocky. The peninsula is 9 kilometers long and was declared a protected landscape area in 1996. The coast of the Cape Kamenjak peninsula is incredibly rugged and offers many places to swim, high water jump, biking, surfing,… Some places are available only from the sea. Safari Bar is located above the Mala Kolombarica beach and its a real gem. The environment of this bar is very atypical, located in the middle of nature – reeds, and the only thing that reminds you of a regular bar is a kitchen and a counter where it is purchased. Otherwise, the environment is purely of natural materials. There are many swings, climbing frames and small children’s carousels. BIKING ON KAMENJAK – Explore Kamenjak on Bike
The bike trails of Lower and Upper Kamenjak are very popular in whole Istrian peninsula. Several thousand cyclists come on Kamenjak every year and enjoy biking enclosed by the natural beauty of Kamenjak. International sporting competietions in mountain biking are held here such as Alpe-Adria Cup as well numerous recreational races. The most interesting activity is Full Moon bike ride, held at night at full moon in the summer months & Kamenjak Rocky Trails.
The Full moon race is organized by a sport club “Adrenalina” with the support if the Public Institution of Kamenjak.

CAVE EXPOLORING BY KAYAK ON CAPE KAMENJAK
Discover sea caves on the Adriatic Coast on a kayaking tour around the Kamenjak peninsula in Premantura, south of Pula. You’ll paddle along the southern cape of Istria and into two caves, plus go snorkeling, admire several bays and beaches, and jump in the water from the cliffs, if you wish.
CLIFF JUMPING ON CAPE KAMENJAK
Cliff jumping location are situated on Mala Kolombarica & Velika Kolombarica beaches. The cliffs are 12+ meters high and very suitable for cliff jumping. Above the cliffs there is Safari Bar. The beach is also known for Mala Kolombarica cave which you can explore, dive and take a submarine photo-shoot. If you are lucky enough, you can find a Mediterranean monk seal inside the cave. Just above the beach there is a legendary Safari barwhich offers meals and drinks. In summer months the beach get crowded. From the beach you can enjoy the fantastic view consisted of the Fenoliga Island and Porer lighthouse. This beach is one the most visited beach on Cape Kamenjak.
RUNNING AND TREKKING ON KAMENJAK – Get in Shape
Because of its natural characteristics Kamenjak is favorable for running and trekking. Kilometres of gravel roads with lush vegetation are a real gem for all sports and recreation lovers. In the forest above the Penižule beach, the Public institution of Kamenjak set up a training ground in the shade of the pine trees with the seaview.
The training ground is situated just 70 meters away from the beach. Kamenjak is a host of the Kamenjak Rocky Trails Maraton.
WINDSURFING AND KAYAKING ON KAMENJAK
The entire area of Kamenjak is a paradise for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Becuse its special climate and geographical position, the water area of Kamenjak is exposed to winds from all directions, especially during summer months with easterly and westerly winds regularly alternating so that sufres can enjoy surfing throughout the daytime. During the autumn, southerly wind such as Jugo are ideal for windsurfing. Its exactly on Kamenjak that have been listed among the most popular destination for windsurfing lovers in Europe.
The most famous happening on Kamenjak, due to windsurfing, was a european championship of windsurfing “Hallowind”. Because the configuration of the Kamenjak coast and seaside, the surfing locations are safe and easily accessible. Every year in October or November, Kamenjak is the host of the FREESTYLE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP for kids and youth.
VISIT THE DINOSAUR PATH ON KAMENJAK
The educational and recreational trail “Following the Dinosaur Path on Kamenjak” is located on the right side of the Kamenjak peninsula, only 300 meters from the entrance and Graco – a small dinosaur will show You the way. The total lenght of the track is about 600 meters and includes models in actual sizes of dinosaurs and other creatures from the Cretaceous that lived on Kamenjak.
VISIT THE EDUCATIONAL PATH OF KAMENJAK
At the southernmost point of Lower Kamenjak there is an educational path that describes only a fraction of the natural resources of this unique area. Along the path there are five information signs describing plant communities, dinosaurs, birds and orchids, including the description of the black widow spider.
VISIT THE SENSORY-DIDACTIC PATH GRADINA
The sensory-didactic path Gradina is a four kilometre long sensory-didactic path in the area of the Significant Landscape of Upper Kamenjak, which present the natural, historical and cultural features of the area.
